As educators, we understand the importance of ensuring opportunity for every young person. We also know that for some, the main barrier to flourishing is self confidence. Through our residential and non-residential Pupil Premium Support Programmes we focus on 3 elements:
Vision and Purpose
We work with young people and take them through the same model that we use with our corporate clients, and this starts with vision and purpose. We ask 2 main questions; “Why” and “What’s in it for me”, both in terms of the time they spend with us and their time in education.
Commitment
Through a range of tasks and activities, from Archery to Zipwire, we explore the comfort, stretch, panic continuum and show that actually, anything is achievable if you trust and rely on the support mechanisms available. These activities demonstrate this in action and deal with fear and anxiety in a safe and risk free environment. Through review we look at the differences between involvement and commitment
Reward
Our programmes can be interspersed with academic intervention in, for example, English and Maths. The activities that we provide as part of the programme help break up academic sessions and bigger activities such as kayaking and caving are used as rewards for earlier hard work and focus. Of course, we seize the opportunity to link this, and the other 2 elements back to the context of school, academy or college life.
Key to the success of our Pupil Premium Support programmes is close planning with you. We will work with you to agree outcomes and the best mechanism for delivering those.
